The water reuse system reuses up to 80% of the process wastewater. Permit limits are not exceeded and the overall operational costs for treatment and disposal of the wastewater has been reduced 50% annually. Fresh water usage was reduced by up to 20,000 gallons per day. ProChem provides continuous water quality monitoring to assure plant permits and processes function properly. Case Study For:Truck Engine and Transmission Manufacturer |
Achieve 80% water reuse and eliminate hauling of wastewater
The customer hauled 25,000 gallons of oily wastewater offsite for treatment at a disposal facility each day. The excessive cost of disposal and the liability of transporting wastewater to the disposal facility motivated the customer to explore onsite wastewater treatment.
ProChem, Inc. performed water balance and treatability studies to determine the most cost effective method of treatment. Upon completion of the study, ProChem proposed reuse of the treated wastewater in the plant, thus reducing the overall cost of operation and environmental liability of discharging wastewater to the sanitary sewer. ProChem offered a design-build-operate solution and, by providing an operation and rental agreement, relieved the customer of responsibility for operation and maintenance of the process. The water reuse system features automation and ideal capacity allowing for a single shift of operation to help control overall cost.
