ProChem Inc. recently completed the installation of a batch wastewater treatment system for an automotive parts supplier. The client’s production was increasing and compliance issues resulted. To remove the chromium, copper, nickel and zinc present in the wastewater effluent, ProChem proposed an automated batch wastewater system. After performing bench scale tests to evaluate feasible treatment options including evaporation, ion-exchange, membrane filtration and chemical precipitation, ProChem determined that enhanced physical chemical treatment technology was the best method to employ.
As a result of the solution ProChem provided, our client has achieved 100% compliance with their wastewater discharge permit, reduced operator time and decreased capital costs due to a long-term equipment lease agreement. Future plans for the system include a water reuse strategy that would allow for up to 95% of the wastewater to be recycled.
